Sports injuries can affect just about any part of the spinal, neurological, and skeletal system. The heavy physical stress can have a compounded affect on even the most minor of injuries. If not treated in a timely manner, these minor injuries may result in more severe injuries; which may lead to long term consequences on your mental and physical health but also your financial well-being. For this reason, many athletes choose to undergo preemptive chiropractic treatment.
Our chiropractic approach to treating sports injuries – including those sustained at home – comprises of a blend of natural techniques and noninvasive methods; such as physiotherapy and chiropractic massage. We begin with an all-inclusive chiropractic examination. This can pinpoint the location and nature of the injury. Additionally, this may reveal any pressure points created by the injury.
Once this is determined, a recommended course of corrective treatment may be given. This may include receiving an x-ray to check for any fractures, broken bones, or tissue damage. More serious injuries may require an MRI or CT scan - through our Physicians Network - may be suggested to determine any internal injuries. For injuries that have affected the nervous or spinal system, treatment may include a single chiropractic adjustment, or a series of adjustments, that are focused on improving flexibility and the return of natural movements to the injured joints.
No matter your sport, we here at Groton Chiropractic are committed to getting you back into your best performing self that we can achieve!
