If you don’t have your own New Year’s Resolutions, feel free to borrow one of ours!
It’s that time of year once again. Once again folks are recommitting themselves to being their best, and health and wellness goals are great choices! Here are a few suggestions from our team here at Barnett Chiropractic on how to look and feel your best in 2022:
Prioritize Self Care
The best way to start taking better care of yourself is by literally taking care of yourself. Make time for YOU. What that looks like is totally up to you - a nice bath, an evening out, or a nice massage, whatever nourishes your body and soul is the right choice!Get Regular Chiropractic
Keeping your spine in alignment is one of the best ways to keep yourself looking and feeling great! There’s nothing wrong with waiting until you’ve had a fall or an injury to come in, but if you prefer to avoid discomfort and improve your health, to move forward with your health goals, then talk to Dr. Bob or Dr. Sarah about a wellness plan today!Add Regular Increase On Your Walks
Walk 10 minutes longer than normal each day you go out or bring along the doggies. You can increase your activity each month. Remember that starting with even 10 minutes a day is a great way to begin.Hydrate!
Hydration is key for losing weight and cellular health. Make sure to keep drinking water and finish 2 bottles of water every day.
Get yourself a nice water bottle to keep with you as you go about your day and set reminders on your phone or have a well-placed post it note handy so you don’t forget to keep hydrated! As Dr Bob for more nifty hydration tips!Try Something New
This is a big one! Step out of your comfort zone just once and do something this year that you will be proud of this time next year. What would make next year you feel proud? Maybe you’ve had something on your bucket list for a while that you’ve been wanting to try and experience. It’s time to get planning and make it happen.Get Enough Rest
Sleep is essential for our health, and it’s no surprise that these days – with all our screens and the pressure of modern life – it’s one of the most underrated aspects of our wellbeing. Make a commitment to your sleep this year. Go to bed at 10. Not sometimes, all the time. Create a wind-down routine that works for you by turning off screens at sundown, meditating or practicing gratitude and some gentle stretches. Make the ritual work and maintain good sleep hygiene – no laptops in bed!Ask For Help
If you’ve been struggling (and many of us have!), this might be the year that you ask for help in your life. Don’t struggle in silence. Seek out the help that you really need to start making the changes you want to see in your life.Save For The Things That Matter
Many of us make the resolution to save money. It’s okay to spend money on what makes you happy, but you can also always save money by asking yourself “do I really need this?” Question your purchases before you click and buy. Save for the things that really matter to youKeep Track Of The Good Times
It’s so easy to forget the good times and overly dwell on the negative times. But keeping track of the good times can help give you a chance to really express and practice gratitude and remember the positive moments! Take more photos of days out and memories you experience, and document the good times so the future you has something to look back on. Start a journal and keep it regularly – even a line or two a day is a great start!Eat Your Greens
Integrate a little more greenery into your diet by committing to eat veggie more often – even just one day a week is a great way to start. Have a meat-free day, try out some new veggie recipes, or find ways to add more fruit and veg into your day. Just one healthier meal a day is a great way to go!
